Health facilities in Western Bahr el Ghazal shut down amid medicines shortage
Almost half of Western Bahr el Ghazal State’s 123 health facilities have closed due to critical shortages of medicines and medical supplies, State Health Minister Dr. Francis Michael Hassan has confirmed.
Dr. Hassan said 48 health centers—mostly in remote and conflict-affected areas—have ceased operations entirely, while the remaining facilities are struggling to function with limited support from the government and humanitarian partners.
He urged the national government to restore medical supply chains and funding, warning that hospitals are under mounting pressure as patients continue to suffer without access to essential healthcare
