Whitaker peace and Development Initiative has launched women’s livelihood training program in Juba county.
Speaking during the official launch Mariam Aguli Alex advisor to the governor of CES on Gender, Child and Social Welfare urged the women to utilize the opportunity provided by WPDI for the training to learn how to start up businesses that will improve their livelihood.
“You women who have gotten this chance to be trained on business skills, you should take this opportunity serious because it will benefit you at the end of the day because you will be able to learn how to start up your small businesses which will improve your livelihood and your families too, Ms Mariam said.
On his part, the CES minister of trade an industry Stephen Lado Onesimo says the state is planning to open up business enterprise centers to boost the capacity of young people and women in the country in terms of business development in the state.
“As a state, we are on a plan to build business enterprise centers and we call up the development partners to support this idea, because this will help improve the capacity of our young people in terms of business development in the state, said Stephen Lado.
The WPDI representative Gama Hassan said, they will continue to conduct this trainings in order to empower the women in the country.
“As WPD, we shall always support the women with this kind of trainings so that they can be empowered to manage their own businesses,” Gama said.
The WPDI representative affirmed the organizations commitment to extend this trainings to other states.
“We have been doing this trainings within Juba, however, now we shall be taking them to other states starting with Torit in EES and them move to Yambio in WES then to other states in the country,” added Gama.
Meanwhile, Larissa Beutler 1st secretary and program manager SDC said her organization will continue providing the necessary support that’s is need training the women in South Sudan.
“I want to assure you that SDC will always provide the much needed support in order to help improve the well being of South Sudanese women,” Larissa said.
The training will see a total of 150 women training in business and enterprisehip and village saving and loans associations. The training will take a period of three week.
