THRIVE PROJECT EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES IN UPPER NILE STATE

The under secretary in the minister of Humanitarian Affairs and disaster management has urged for a collective collaboration between government and organizations.

Speaking during the Thrive learning event in on Tuesday Dr. Dennis Marial Maorwel said, the government of South Sudan will continue to support and work with organization impacting positive livelihood in ctizens.  

“Government values the commitment of Thrive Consortium transforming households and communities in some of the most vulnerable areas in South Sudan,” said Dr. Dennis Marial.  

Hon. Marial uploaded the positive impact Thrive has brought in the into lives of women and youth in the upper Nile region.

As the government l, we are thankful to Thrive for making a profound difference in lives of women, Youth and communities in Greater Upper Nile,” added Dr. Marial.

On her part, the country Director for Goal Phyllis Jepkonr said thrive is more than a project but a movement of courage self reliance.

“Thrive is more than a project but a movement for courage creativity and self reliance across eight counties in the Upper Nile State,” said Phyllis

Ms. Phyllis Jepkonr added that the project empowers people to lead change and strengthen livelihoods.

“Thrive is empowering people to lead change, strengthen livelihood inclusive leadership and strengthen local systems,” Phyllis added.

However, David Ashley ambassador of United Kingdom in South Sudan said the people to be Resilient there must be total peace in the country.

“For people to be Resilient there should be total peace and that’s why we urge the parties to fully implement the peace agreement and respect the ceasefire for South Sudan to be productive,” said David Ashley.

The one-day showcased innovations and lessons from THRIVE’s work across South Sudan.

It also showcased the success stories, and discussions on market systems, climate resilience, social cohesion & women’s economic empowerment.
