LOCAL AUTHORITIES CONFIRM CRASH OF CARGO PLANE IN LEER COUNTY

JUST IN: Local authorities in Unity State reported that a cargo plane carrying humanitarian food supplies crashed in Leer County this Tuesday morning, with three people feared dead.

The aircraft, believed to have been ferrying food assistance to flood-affected communities in southern Unity State, went down at about 8:30 AM as it approached the Leer airstrip.

Kueth Latjor, the Executive Director in Leer County, told Eye Radio this afternoon that police and investigators have been dispatched to the scene, but access has been difficult due to heavy flooding.

Authorities say the exact number and condition of those on board are yet to be officially confirmed.
